Just A Super Busy Week

I will have to say I am exhausted, this week was so busy. Started out on Sunday I went to the quilt show at Honey Creek, that was really neat, a good friend went with me. Of course we had to stop at the Columns and Bradley Hall on our way back through Centerville. They always have neat things to look at.
When I got home I had a young girl bring her prom dress for me to do alterations on, I must say that took a long time to get pinned up, I think she was getting irritated, but hey she is the one who bought the full dress. She looked beautiful in it. I hope to get it done this weekend. Monday came around way too fast, so time to start back at my housecleaning  jobs, I just had one place on Monday so that was good, It gave me more time to work on my sewing projects. That evening I had two gals come with bridesmaids dresses to be worked on, I will have to say they are done.
Then I got an email for an order for a little girls apron, size 2t, they are always so much fun to make. Had a time finding my pattern, but finally found it and got it cut out and made. It turned out so cute.
Tuesday, had two places to clean, worked more on sewing that evening. Had another call about hemming a prom dress, she will be coming on Saturday. The next 3 days were full with my cleaning jobs, 7 more places.

So tonight I decided to just watch a lifetime movie and rest for a while, I will have all weekend to work on this sewing.

Some Of My Quilts

This is one of my favorite quilts and it is called Broken Dishes, I really like all the borders that I put on it. The point is to not have any of the same fabrics touching.

This quilt is called 9-Patch, this is a good way to use up all your extra fabric scraps.

This was the first quilt I made, it is called Grandmothers Choice, I did learn alot from making it. Another good way to use up fabric scraps.

I have always had a love for quilts, so a few years back I decided I would start quilting. I would have to say it is very addictive. Once you get one done you are ready to start on the next. It is always fun getting the fabrics that match and all the different designs that you can come up with. I learned after my first quilt that the more borders the prettier the quilt turns out. I still think I like the quilts that have several colors in them. They remind me of the ones that my Grandma would have made. The quilts that I have made are all hand sewn. I have made 17 large quilts and 2 baby quilts. Everyone should make at least one quilt.

Just About Me

Well this won't be very interesting but not much going on around here today. I like to keep busy, don't spend much time watching TV. I do watch the news but sometimes wonder why I waste my time on it. I usually sew on something every day. Today I made burp cloths, bibs and a potholder. I always like to get new sewing customers, and have had two new ones this last week. Thanks to everyone that gives out my name to them. I do appreciate it.
I hate Winter weather, driving on gravel roads, and riding in elevators. I am scared of birds have been all my life, not sure why but they terrify me. I also hate people that are always late, that is hard for me to deal with them. I don't like to cook but I do, it is usually good but would rather eat someone elses cooking.
I love to sew, so that is what I do in all my spare time, I hope someday to have enough sewing to be able to just stay home all the time. That would be great.

A Typical Day In My Life

I will have to say some days are really busy. I got up at 6:15, got ready for work, and left the house at 7:15. I usually don't leave until 7:30 but was going to meet a lady at 7:45  and pick up some sewing. I was thinking all the way to town that she would probably be late and then I would be late to work. I lucked out she pulled in the parking lot just ahead of me. I am used to dealing with people that are always late or forget. That doesn't go over good with me, I am a very scheduled person. So then I am off to my first house to clean, another sewing customer was going to come by there and pick up some sewing, she was also on time. I am thinking this is great, not very often does this happen. I finish cleaning my first house, then had to drop off some items I had sold to a lady, found her house right away, another plus. Oh and she paid cash, that even made it better, that way I didn't have to run by the bank. By this time I was getting hungry so stopped by Subway for lunch, I love Subway. Then made a quick run out to WalMart, wanted to buy some more Iowa Hawkeye fabric, thinking I might want a sewing project to do if we get lots of snow. Now I am off to my second house to clean, things went good there too. When I left there it was started to snow just a little, I thought I better get a few groceries, so ran to the store, by the time I got that done the roads were getting covered with snow. I hate being in town when the streets are slick, people are crazy drivers. I wanted to make another stop but decided that would have to wait, I wanted to be home and off the roads. That is just a typical day in my life.

Just Getting Started!!

This is all new to me, but here I go, a good friend of mine has a blog so thought I would see if I could do one. I spend all most all of my spare time sewing. I made around 60 aprons for Christmas, they were all so cute. My latest projects have been baby bibs. Today I started working on a teddy bear for a gal. Her Mother died in an accident, and she wanted a bear made out of one of her shirts. It is going to be so cute, and I know she will cherish it forever. I will post pictures of it when I am done.
