Sewing Keeps Me Super Busy!!

I know it has been sometime since I posted to my blog, I am glad to get back to it and let everyone know what all I have been doing. Through the months of  September to December, I was so busy that I was sewing from 10 to 12 hours a day. I was so thankful for all the special orders, I made 75 memory/keepsake teddy bears, they all turned out so cute. I will have to admit the hardest ones I made were the ones I made out of a wedding gown, There were a total of 9 of them, I embroidered a name on each one. It was a challenge but I guess I like a challenge once in a while.
Then there were the memory pillows, one lady ordered 12 for Christmas gifts, they were very special. Closer to Christmas I was getting several orders for personalized Christmas stockings, I always machine  quilt the front of each stocking. With having all these special orders I still kept up with all the hemming and alterations and worked away from home 3 days a week. I am so thankful for everyone that trust me with doing their special memory items. It is always neat to see the look on their faces when they receive the finished product. I am so thankful for all my customers!!!

I have been sewing for several years now, but it has only been the last 6-7 years that I have been this busy. I am so thankful for all the sewing projects that I get and all the new people that I get to meet. Most everyone is always so nice. I try to have a fast turn around on their sewing. I have even had people come to my house and wait for me to hem their jeans. I do try to please everyone, just had a gal come tonight to try on her bridesmaid dress, I loved seeing her face when she tried it on and it fit her perfect. I do sometimes hold my breath and hope everything works out. I really like the special orders that people place, and the Machine embroidery that I am learning how to do.
I have several projects that I am wanting to try, but I always put the customers first. Prom season was very busy for me this year, and I am now starting to get some weddings. Alterations on Wedding gowns can sometimes be very trying. So far they have all worked out great.
I know it seems like it is too early to think about Christmas, but now is the time to start placing your orders. Sometimes last minutes ones cannot be finished in time.

I am finally back to blogging!!!!

I am finally taking time to do a blog, seems like things have been so busy around here. My sewing has picked up so much, getting new clients all the time. I do have a question, if I am this busy should I do more advertising, I have a chance to run an ad on the radio, sounds like a great deal, just not sure if I should spend the money when I am this busy. Any suggestions, I know I may not always be this busy.
I am really liking the warmer temps and the sun shine, it makes a person what to get so much more accomplished. Everything looks so pretty out the grass is so green, we did get the yard mowed yesterday before all of the rain showers.
Well this is a short blog but hope I will continue to keep it updated more often.
Better get back to some of my sewing projects, I have a wedding gown to do alterations on, need to make a little pillowcase dress, have pockets and collars to put on shirts, and alterations on a bridesmaid dress, that are just a few of the things I can think of right now.

Keepsake Teddy Bears

I started making keepsake teddy several years ago, my neighbors Grandpa had passed away and she wanted bears made out of the overalls that he had worn. They turned out so cute, I think that had to be at least over twenty years ago, and I know they still all have the bears and cherish them so much.
Over the years I have probably made over 300 bears, they have been made out of all kinds of fabrics, denim, old quilts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, chenille bedspreads, you name it I think I have made them. Each bear has it's own personality. I always use the buttons or tags on the items to add to the bears. There are never two that are just alike, that is what makes them so special. The last four that I just made are made out of old sweatshirts, I used designs from each shirt to make the bear come alive. When I first got the sweatshirts I told my husband I don't have much to work with, but I am so pleased at how they turned out.

Special Orders

I WILL HAVE TO ADMIT IT HAS BEEN QUIT A WHILE SINCE I HAVE DONE A BLOG. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BUSY I HAVE BEEN. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT ARE ORDERING FROM ME THIS YEAR. IT IS MY BEST YEAR EVER. I AM SO HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO PUT NAMES ON ITEMS NOW. THAT IS ONE THING THAT PEOPLE REALLY LIKE.
CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS ARE A BIG THING THIS YEAR, I HAD ONE LADY THAT HAD ME MAKE STOCKINGS FOR HER DOGS WITH THEIR NAMES ON THEM.
I HAVE 6 MORE SPECIAL ORDERS, AND JUST GOT TWO OF THEM TODAY, I MIGHT HAVE TO STOP TAKING ORDERS AFTER DECEMBER 10TH, TO MAKE SURE I WILL HAVE TIME TO GET THEM DONE IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS.
I LOVE SEWING AND COMING UP WITH NEW THINGS ALL THE TIME, I WOULD SAY I PROBABLY SEW AT LEAST 5-6 HOURS A DAY.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO PLACE ORDERS JUST HAVE THEM IN  WITH IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

WELL I WILL HAVE TO SAY I HAVE BEEN MIA FOR AWHILE NOW. WORKING TWO JOBS IS TAKING UP SO MUCH OF MY TIME. I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FIRST OF THE YEAR SO I CAN PARTIALLY RETIRE. THAT WILL GIVE ME SOME MORE TIME TO WORK ON SEWING PROJECTS AND KEEP UP WITH ALL THE ORDERS I AM GETTING FROM CUSTOMERS. ALSO IT WILL GIVE ME MORE TIME TO LEARN HOW TO RUN MY EMBROIDERY MACHINE. THERE IS SO MUCH THAT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT BUT WANT TO FIND OUT. MAYBE SOME CLASSES WILL BE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I ALREADY HAVE SEVERAL ORDERS FOR CHRISTMAS, THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT GETS THEM IN EARLY. THAT SURE CUTS DOWN ON THE STRESS LEVEL FOR ME. My Sewing Room

OVER THE WEEKEND I DECIDED IT WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO TRY AND ORGANIZE ALL MY FABRIC IN MY SEWING ROOM. I REALLY DIDN'T KNOW IT WOULD TAKE SO LONG, AND COULDN'T HARDLY BELIEVE THAT I HAD SO MUCH FABRIC. IT WAS SOMETHING THAT I HAD TO TAKE SEVERAL BREAKS FROM DOING, I BEGIN TO THINK I WOULD NEVER GET IT ALL DONE. I TRIED TO KIND OF SORT THE FABRICS IN COLORS, PLAINS, REDS, BLACKS, NOVELTY AND SO ON. I FINALLY GOT IT ALL PUT BACK TOGETHER THIS AFTERNOON, IT LOOKS SO NICE, I JUST WISH IT WOULD STAY LIKE THAT FOREVER. I TOLD MY HUSBAND THERE SHOULD BE A LAW FOR HAVING SO MUCH FABRIC, AND HE LAUGHED AND SAID MAYBE THERE IS!!! I TOLD MY FRIENDS IF THEY SEE ME IN TOWN BUYING MORE FABRIC, PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE TAKE ME AWAY. I TOOK PICTURES TO SHOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE ALL CLEANED UP, AND ALL THE ITEMS HANGING ARE ITEMS THAT I HAVE MADE AND ARE FOR SALE. SEND ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS OVER TO MY BLOG, I ALWAYS LIKE GETTING NEW FOLLOWERS. SO HERE IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AFTER I GOT EVERYTHING PUT BACK TOGETHER!
